On Board Celebrity Xpedition
Cruise aboard Celebrity Xpedition and you'll experience a
sense of intimacy that can only be achieved aboard a smaller
ship. And yet, Celebrity Xpedition is filled with touches
that are luxuriously familiar. Morning mimosas and moonlit
toasts are just a few of the spoils you'll enjoy as you embrace
the timelessness of the Galapagos Islands - a land that time
has seemingly forgotten. Many destinations promise visitors
the chance to "step back into history." A Celebrity
Xpedition Cruise to the Galapagos Islands perhaps best exemplifies
that promise, as we take you to a destination that helped
to shape one of the world's leading scientific doctrines.
They are known as the inspiration for Charles Darwin's theory
of evolution, this cluster of islands is so isolated that
many of its creatures cannot be found anywhere else on earth.
From the giant tortoises that bear the Galapagos name, to
the marine iguanas and "Darwin" finches, the Galapagos
islands afford visitors the chance to observe a living laboratory
of adaptation. Celebrity Cruises provide guests with this
rare, up-close experience with the smallest possible environmental
impact to these precious shores. You'll want to have your
cameras ready at all times in the Galapagos because it's unlikely
you'll ever meet anyone who has witnessed the species you
will photograph. Whether it's the extravagant colony of Frigate
birds on North Seymour, or the blue-footed boobies, sea lions
or red marine iguanas of the five million year old Espanola
Island, the wildlife of the Galapagos are unlike any other
in the world. Our cruise is 7 nights in duration departing
and returning to Baltra. With a team of naturalist trained
in the Galapagos, passengers will go ashore twice a day to
explore in small groups and to walk amongst the wildlife that
has little fear of human intrusion. Fascinating lectures on
board prepare everyone for what they will encounter ashore
and in the water.
Being a small four-deck ship, Xpedition still
boasts a generous degree of public spaces for the limited
passenger list. Cabins are positioned forward and the public
spaces aft. The Discovery Lounge hosts the naturalists' enrichment
program and an Ecuadorian culture show (on the last night),
and provides quiet relaxation when not ashore. A sit-up bar
provides drinks and there is a pianist.

On the top deck, the Blue Finch Bar is a second watering
hole. Meals are served in the Darwin Restaurant at tables
for six to eight. Breakfast offers buffet items and a menu.
Lunch is a buffet and dinner is a waiter-served meal with
many of the ingredients coming from outside Ecuador to maintain
the standards this high-end expedition cruise achieves. The
outdoor Beagle Grill, located aft of the Discovery Lounge,
serves buffet style with freshly prepared hot and cold items.
Usually an evening barbecue takes place here one night under
the stars. The beauty salon shares adjacent space with a small
shop. The spa includes massage treatment, some exercise equipment,
a sauna, and a hot tub out on deck. Teakwood deck space is
generous, and furnished with attractive wooden deck chairs.
All 47 cabins are outside and convertible between single and
double beds, and nine larger units have private balconies.
Amenities in each cabin include interactive TVs, minibar,
direct-dial phones with voice mail, safe, robes, hair dryers
and room service.
